Making a Qualified Charitable Distribution could be a consideration if you’re charitably minded and don’t need your full RMD. In many cases, it's more advantageous than taking the withdrawal and then donating it, because cash donations have deductibility limits.

While IRA distributions are normally taxable, a QCD is not subject to federal income taxes if it is paid directly to a charitable organization, and it will count toward your RMD.

A QCD is a way for you to give more money to charity and less to taxes since you will not pay federal income taxes on this type of IRA distribution.
