Family Promise of Cape May County Response to Corvid-19

From the Desk of Laurie Johnson

Dear supporters of Family Promise of Cape May County,

As a community organization, we strive to do everything we can to preserve the safety and health of our guests, volunteers, staff, and community. While we have not had any confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 in Cape May County (as of March 16) we are monitoring the developments of the COVID-19 virus very closely and have decided to implement a social distancing plan for Family Promise of Cape
May County.

With the graduation of a recent family and the absence of a new family entering the program, we have decided to place the church rotation on a temporary hold to minimize unnecessary contact with others (as many of our church volunteers fall in the high risk category for COVID-19) until further notice. Kathleen and I will continue to work at the Day Center with limited hours and ask that any visits are by
appointment only, as we continue to work with our past families and our family in the Transitional house.

All scheduled meetings are cancelled until further notice.

We have also stopped the dropping off of clothing donations during this time with the closing of the Family Promise Thrift Shop for 2 weeks.

As most of you know, Family Promise of Cape May County work is done through community giving and fundraisers. Our next scheduled fundraiser, Cardboard Box City, was set for April 24. With many
individuals, including students, already signed up to spend ONE NIGHT IN A CARDBOARD BOX and younger children collecting change in their HOUSES OF CHANGE boxes, we have decided to not cancel
this event but to postpone it to a future date.

We will be in contact when this advisory changes. In the meantime, our Social Media Team will be posting updates on our Facebook page FAMILY PROMISE OF CAPE MAY COUNTY and our website.

We have not been given a spirit of fear, but a spirit of hope. Let’s provide hope during this time. Together, we can meet this challenge as a community.

Thank you for your dedication and service. Stay well, everyone!
Laurie, Kathleen & Board of Directors
